The babies start off memorizing what words look like, what they sound like, and what the mean. This is similar to how babies learn to understand and say words -- they start off memorizing what the words sound like and what they mean. Toddlers naturally figure out grammar by figuring out the patterns of the spoken language without being told the rules of grammar. It is possible for babies and toddlers to figure out the patterns of the written language after learning to read many individual words. Note: The 5th YBCR DVD puts the words in a "phonetic order" to highlight phoneme awareness and phonics. This kit contains the first 4 DVDs, books, and sets of word cards. Parents may purchase the 5th DVD individually for $12.95 or as part of an upgrade kit that includes the 5th book and 5th set of sliding cards plus the YCCR DVDs. Ages 3 months to 5 years.
