The YBCR program is designed to teach reading in a way that is similar to how infants learn other language skills. The babies start off memorizing what words look like, what they sound like, and what the mean. This is similar to how babies learn to understand and say words -- they start off memorizing what the words sound like and what they mean. Toddlers naturally figure out grammar by figuring out the patterns of the spoken language without being told the rules of grammar. It is possible for babies and toddlers to figure out the patterns of the written language after learning to read many individual words. Note: The 5th YBCR DVD puts the words in a "phonetic order" to highlight phoneme awareness and phonics. This kit contains the first 4 DVDs, books, and sets of word cards. Parents may purchase the 5th DVD individually for $12.95 or as part of an upgrade kit that includes the 5th book and 5th set of sliding cards plus the YCCR DVDs.

It is better not to use these DVDs with babies unless the babies are already reading, but the audio parts of this are appropriate for babies. The Your Baby Can Read program in Spanish is a better option for babies learning Spanish whether Spanish is the first or second language. In YBCR the words are taught one at a time, then used in sentences. Toddlers and preschoolers may really enjoy this program.
The Your Baby Can Speak Includes two programs designed to help introduce infants and children to language skills in a fun way! The Lyric Language program includes 21 bilingual music videos in Spanish and English with lyrics shown on the screen and a 70-minute audio CD that includes a 47 page book that you can print from your computer containing the lyrics for each song plus activities to practice. The Hear Say program includes a 70-minute animated DVD and is focused on 200 vocabulary words. BONUS: 104 word and picture cards, and parent instructions. Dr. Titzer recommends using the audio parts of the program while you are playing with your baby. Use the DVDs once your baby is reading at least 50 words or use after your baby is age two or older. Ages up to 7 years.
