The YCCR DVDs are highly entertaining, interactive, and they contain songs designed to teach aspects of reading. NOTE: There are more than 1200 words in this package containing YBCR and Your Child Can Read including the 200 most frequently used words in children's literature. The YBCR program is designed to teach reading in a way that is similar to how infants learn other language skills. The babies start off memorizing what words look like, what they sound like, and what they mean. This is similar to how babies learn to understand and say words -- they start off memorizing what the words sound like and what they mean. Toddlers naturally figure out grammar by figuring out the patterns of the spoken language without being told the rules of grammar. It is possible for babies and toddlers to figure out the patterns of the written language after learning to read many individual words. The Your Child Can Read program is much more of a phonics-based program and the intent of YCCR is to have the children read at a fast rate with comprehension. Ages 3 months to 7 years.
