A large number of parents have had their children tested after using Your Baby Can Read! (YBCR). The scores from the babies who were tested where the parents provided the scores are impressive. Of course, the average parent is likely not going to pay the money for the test unless their children were reading well, so this evidence is simply a demonstration that it is possible for some of the YBCR babies to read at very high levels . This evidence does not in any way indicate that it is typical for a toddler to read at these high levels – it only shows that it is possible for babies to learn to read at high levels in a way that is similar to how babies learn other aspects of language.
Many different types of tests administered and specific subtest scores were reported. The general finding has been that the children are reading above the first grade level (and as high as the 12th grade level phonetically) when they were given the tests (usually around age 3 or 4). None of the scores show that the children were reading at, or below, grade levels and all of the test scores sent in by parents who had their children tested showed the children reading above grade level and usually at least two grades above grade level.
